Yoga is a journey to yourself. Each day I roll out my mat I mindfully engage with my body -with its ability as well as limitations and walk on a path of exploring possibilities while aiming to synchronise or optimise my breathing in such a way that I can flow or even fly.
Being mindful reaches, however, beyond my time on my yoga mat!
I adore food, love to cook and quite often indulge in stuff which is less than healthy.
I was lucky enough to spent Christmas in Belgium with the family of my boyfriend, where we ate excessively. With one exception of a kebab all of it was cooked from scratch (though none of it by me) and generally speaking healthy. However, it was, and most of your may have been lucky enough to a similar exposure, way too much! On top of that too many sweet deserts and not to forget alcoholic beverages.
I loved it all, though despite one Barre yoga session a day I felt so tired after each meal, starting with breakfast, lunch, dinner and anything else I could not refuse in-between.
I do suffer from some allergies and because of this I had started to look at my diet with the help of The Natural Wellbeing Academy prior to the festive season and played around with cutting out diary products.
After indulging in all the lovely food and drink over Christmas I wanted to explore a path towards vegan in January. I had already collected some recipes, so here is a selection of my January meals:
I do not always eat breakfast but if I do I love my porridge as well as Bircher Müsli
I also played with tangine and some spicy curries- all home cooked:
I had a good friend gifting me cheese, oatcakes a wee bottle of wine which I also consumed and enjoyed with my better half:
So, six days into January I am on my way to vegan. I am not even sure if I want to go fully vegan. What I enjoy greatly is playing with new recipes, adding different flavours and different ingredients. Curiosity kills the cat-> I am that cat or as my late dad always put it:" do not get stuck in a routine, be open to new flavours, tastes and ingredients."
